Rajasthan gets more first-time India visitors than almost anywhere in the country — and more recycled, copy-pasted travel advice too. Rajasthan.io exists to be the guide we wished existed: realistic day plans that respect driving distances and opening hours, honest calls on what's worth your limited days, and the practical details (seasons, transport, how long things actually take) that decide whether a trip flows or frays.

What we do differently

We tell you what to skip. Most travel content is additive — every monument gets a paragraph, everything is "a must-see." That's useless when you have five days and the state is bigger than England. Our guides say plainly that Umaid Bhawan's museum is a quick visit for car enthusiasts, that the elephant ride at Amber isn't worth it, and that a seven-day trip should probably leave out Jaisalmer.

We plan around real constraints. Every itinerary is built from drive times, opening hours, and daylight — not from a list of sights. That's why our Kumbhalgarh day trip runs the fort first: Ranakpur doesn't admit visitors until midday, and people routinely drive two hours to find that out on arrival.

We're specific about seasons. "Best visited in winter" is true and useless. Our timing guide goes month by month, including the unfashionable answer that late monsoon in Udaipur — lakes full, hills green — is one of the most beautiful times to be in Rajasthan.

How the guides are written

Each destination guide covers what's genuinely worth your time, how many days the place deserves, where to base yourself, and how it connects to the rest of a route. Itineraries are sequenced hour by hour so you can follow them directly or adapt them. Where we recommend something specific — a neighbourhood, a viewpoint, a time of day — it's because it changes the experience, not because it fills space.

Things change: monuments close for restoration, trains get rescheduled, ticket prices rise. We date every page and revise rather than let content quietly rot. Anything time-sensitive is worth confirming before you commit money or a day of your trip.
